  • Modern Pro Tools Pan Control

Pro Tools 10 HD was the last version of Pro Tools to support the Edit Pack. Now with V-Control Pro you can connect an Edit Pack to modern Pro Tools systems and use its dual joystick surround panning and accelerated button workflow. V-Control Pro uses the JL Cooper surround pan protocol to bridge Edit Pack to Pro Tools. The JL Cooper protocol does not provide the exact same functionality for Edit Pack like Pro Tools 10 did, but it provides enough for powerful pan control. At the time of writing this user guide, these features are not implemented due to limitations of the HUI and JL Cooper protocols:

    1. Solo
    2. Metering
    3. Motorized pan feedback
    4. Channel name display
    5. Parameter value display
    6. Start/end/length indication

There are two ways to pan each side of stereo tracks: Single Panner Control and Dual Panner Control.

You can use either the V-Pan1 or V-Pan 2 controls to pan a stereo track.

    1. For V-Pan 1 or V-Pan 2, select a stereo track to be panned.
    2. Tap the AUTO button to assign the pan controls to the left or right channel.
    3. Use the link/unlink and inverse/non-inverse buttons in the Pro Tools pan window control panning behaviors.

Stereo Track Panning - Dual Panner Control
